About Me
- JDuke
- I am a mother of four and grandmother of 9 and have been an artist for over 40 years. I started working in pastels and tried oils for a time but prefer acrylics. I have painted on everything from drift wood, rocks, feathers, leaves and of course canvas. I prefer southwestern motiffs but will paint anything.

Cooling Down

This is a painting I finished about 2 weeks ago on an 11x14 board. It was something I wanted to try, with the reflections in the water and the action making the waves on the water, a little harder than I thought it would be, but I am pleased with the results.

Granny,Teddy, and Me for Tea

This is the latest painting I have done, I had gotten an antique frame from my Uncle and it needed just the right subject to frame. This is what I thought was the right subject.

Bear on Feather

This is a bear I painted on a, wild turkey, feather the other day. I use acrylic paint on everything I paint, and painting on a feather takes a little time and a lot of practice.

Fun in the Mud

This was my first attempt at doing a pencil sketch. I have done sketches for paintings for many years, but never a finished pencil drawing. They are not that easy to do, because I do all my shading when I do the painting. A really new medium for me.

This is a painting I did in the summer of 2006. It was taken from a photo in an old magazine, I changed the back ground, and changed the amount of kids in it, to get the feeling I was looking for. There just isn't anything better than getting the heart out of a sun warmed mellon, that you picked. The name of this painting is "Country Brunch"
I love to do paintings that tell a story, and in this one you can tell which of the kids do this job often and which is the city cousin.

First Post
This is my first blog. This is a painting I did for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. It is the first in a series of three.
